Hi!
When I first got my dwarf rainbowfish, I asked for 2 females and 1 male. But when I got home I found out I had 2 males and 1 female. They all looked healthy and were feeding well. A week later I found one dead. I could not work out what was wrong so I watched the tank carefully. A week later I found another one dead. I was only left with a female. I was sad because they are amazing fish and I was now worried about my female. Now- 3 months later she is still around and doing great. After the last one died I added bacteria medicine. This worked and I saw a great advance in the females behaviour. She is shoaling with my other fish- but I feel it is unfair to leave her by herself. and wonder if I should I get more dwarf rainbowfish. I recommend these fish- they are great to watch. Just make sure they are healthy when you get them.
Thanks!

These are beautiful fish. I have four different species of rainbows in a 37 gallon mixed with a few emerald and peppered corys and they do quite well they are fun to watch. Just be careful what fish you mix in. In my experience they are also killers yes killers .... Happy fishing

When I was first establishing my 20g tank I was persuaded to add this adult male dwarf neon rainbowfish... I quickly read up that these fish are happier in groups of at least 5 and to keep them the same sex with that many. So I added three more males that appear to be juveniles, though I can at least see their colors. (the shop only had the three, they gave me a fourth that was female on accident) and Bo (the adult male) is absolutely brutal with them. Chasing nonstop. Food aggressive... just today I found one of the other males dead. His scales on either side looked nipped to pieces. To be honest I don't know if that happened before or after he died but he wasn't sick or anything prior. Is it possible that the adult is actually better off by himself? I would like to avoid any more casualties. I should note he's only aggressive with his own kind. The other fish he leaves alone.

Your male to female ratio is way off. You need at LEAST one female for every male. If you can add females, it should help your situation.

I have misjudged this wonderful fish. As i noticed the shoal of Rasboras were frightened by my shoal of Black Neon Tetras, I misunderstood the fear for agression by the Black Neon Tetras. I was gazing at them and realised that the Rasboras must have been unaccustomed by my Black Neon Tetras (as they are new to the Coummunity) thus frightened, days ago. If one spends time noticing the activities of a Community tank, one can discover that there is beauty in these tetras.

I picked out two Texas green cichlids at the store And it just so happened one was ale and one was female. We had them a month and they laid eggs and had babies. I have been so impressed with the male and female partnership when it comes to caring for the babies. We are about four weeks out since they hatched and we just got a fry holder to put them in because we noticed they are slowly disappearing. There are about twelve left. Not sure what's next mom and dad look frisky again. Lol

I just found out what my fish is finally. It is a gold severum. My problem is that it has been hitting the top of the tank for about a month. I have tried to see if it is jumping at something particular, but I have found nothing in or on top of the lid. Nothing has changed in it's environment. The only thing that I have changed is the food. I went from one pellet brand to another. But everything else is the same. It has been doing this for about three weeks now and started jumping more frequently. I have turned the lights out in the tank and still no change. I have changed the water and cleaned the water filter, still nothing. There are no obvious signs of disease. Nothing else unusual. Please help! I'm afraid that it is going to hurt itself. I have had it for about 2.5 years.

I have a 15m X 3m swimming pool, it is 2 foot deep at one end and four foot deep at the other. It is stocked with dozen of the small mosquito eating fish and has a number of water plants About a six weeks ago I introduced six comet gold fish, all fine until a week ago when I saw them chasing each other around the pool, two days later one died. This has happened three times now, they chase each other around the pool next day one dead What is the cause, what am I doing wrong? Malcolm Nebel
