i just got two blue gourami in my bowl. earlier they were calm but suddenly one of them started chasing the other and after a whie it changed it colour and turned black.I am not even sure if they are male or female.Please tell me if this is a matter to worry?

Color change is likely due to stress. Not sure how big your "bowl" is but you might want to consider a larger tank or adding plants, driftwood, and rocks to create hiding spaces.

Saved one of these from my Science teacher of all people. It had been in a miskept tank, and looked rather dull when I received it. Survived a walk home from school, and placed into my 20 gallon planted with Tiger Barbs. It recovered very well and saw its gray turn into gold within a few days, the barbs left him alone as he was 4 inches and they were 2. Lived out his last months in a nice planted tank, so I'm glad he found his way to my tank. Very forgiving and hardy fish indeed.

My gold gourami started nipping the fins of my Goider River Rainbowfish this morning. The rainbow fish lost balance and started swimming erraticly. It looks like he/she will be okay. He/she is recovering nicely since I took the Gold Gourami out.

Hi to all giant red tail gourami keepers. i have keep this fish for 4 years. He likes to eat dried shrimp and pellets as well. Easy to keep if compared to an arowana. He can recognized his master after you keep it for some time. He likes to play much.

I'd also like to share, we have few fish pools (300ft length on each pool)back at my inlaw's home.We breed Koi, Talapia, Giant gourami etc. We have estimated more than 30 of both black and red Giant Gourami (weighing 2-7kilos).

He needs a confident non aggressive tank buddy. My red belly pacu's are gentle and kittens but if a new person enters the room they dash and hide if possible. But lately my feather fin catfish has taken ownership of every spot big enough for them to hide in!

I have a Dwarf Gourami pair. The male will chase the female a bit but otherwise they are fine together. The male is definently quite the show, he chases everything that passes the tank and attacks me when I clean it. He spits water at me when he builds a bubble nest and has jumped out of the tank on to the floor trying to get me! He is one lively little fella.

In northcentral Mississippi, blue paradise fish survive and breed in outdoor pools/fountains. This fish, like goldfish/koi/carp, should never be released to natural waterways and ponds.

Hello Brian, I'm doing research on the potential invasibility and establishment of paradise fish within New Zealand freshwater ways. May I use your comment about areas where these fish are found in Mississippi? Also, did you see them in these locations or were they from reports of others? Finally, do you have any other information about paradise fish that may be useful in determining potential habitats and impacts upon other freshwater life? Thank you, Cheryl

i have a 3ft by 1.5 x 1ft tank and my yellow gourami chases my bluey one around the tank, the blue one hides behind the fluvo filter ...it must just be an agressive spieces or something

Check they're sexes. males have longer dorsel fins making it all the way to the tail. Females dorsel fins are shorter and more rounded. Opposite sexes are known to chase one another.
